Party!

If there is one thing I love to do (other than find a really good deal) then it is to plan a party. It is the end of the 4th of July weekend and I am sure that right now you have had your fill of barbaques and get-togethers. However, all of the fun brought to mind some of my favorite things about planning a big party on a small budget.I will add on this idea weekly but to start I think one of the most important things is to plan ahead.

First, if you know you are going to have a party in a month and there is currently a very good stock up deal on meatballs or chicken legs then use that as a start in your menu. Let the deals plan your menu rather than planning a menu and trying to find a good deal on it. Also, if most of your recipies have a smaller amount of ingredients then there are less different things to buy. I hate it when I get a recipie and it has 15 items in it and 10 of them are things I will never use again.

Second-Half the fun of planning a party is the decorating. Think outside the box and put to use the items that you already have on hand. Again, planning ahead comes in to play. My son's birthday is in October and I am already starting to come up with ideas for his party. This allows you to pick up things as you see them on sale and to grow an idea. For insance, if you are going to be throwing a baby shower for someone who loves the Contry Chic theme then think about using mason jars as part of your decor. You probably already have some on hand and you can save them along the way if you are planning ahead. Also, you will find great deals on things like invitations online. Use them when you can!! If there is a deal on Vista Print today and you know you will be having a party in a month or two then use it to your advantage!! The last party we had was for our exchange student who was leaving. I ordered 100 invites, a custom T-shirt and a banner for her party and spent a total of about $10 for shipping!!

These ideas have helped me many times. However, I am sure you have some tricks that you use to plan an awesome party as well. Please share!! We all love a party and a deal!
